Female therapist providing couples counselling in Elmira Ontario.

Hi, I'm Alex.

I came to this work guided by the understanding that when we are in community with each other, when we can live our lives present and authentically, we are capable of experiencing the most meaningful and spectacular moments of existence. I know how difficult it can be to manage the many challenges of this life, to regulate emotions, and find self-acceptance in such a judgmental world. My lived experience informs my practice, allowing me to connect with you on a genuine level and offer insights that are both empathetic and practical. I'm committed to fostering an environment where you feel encouraged to explore your identity, confront challenges, and embrace your strengths. By focusing on building resilience and self-compassion, my aim is to empower you to navigate life's ups and downs with confidence and grace.

Approach

I use a holistic and integrative therapeutic style drawing from various approaches including Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and Emotion Focused Therapy. I place high value on the importance of the relationship with my clients and consider the work of building genuine trust and understanding to be foundational to success together. With a belief that the therapeutic process is best when collaborative in nature, my clients and I work to define meaningful goals together and learn effective and tailored strategies to get there. â€‹â€‹â€‹
